Canal du Midi in the south of France and was taken just outside of Beziers in Languedoc. The canal was constructed in the 17th century as a shortcut from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic in order to avoid the long sea voyage around hostile Spain in pirate-infested waters. It was built by a rich farmer from the Languedoc region and opened in May of 1681. The canal has 103 locks that raise or lower traffic as necessary. Arc de Triomphe, Atop Notre Dame, Paris, Le Mont Saint-Michel, Aiguille du Midi, Eiffel Tower, Palais de l’Isle, Notre Dame, Normandy, Aiguille Verte, Drus, Grandes Jorasses (some clouds just passing), Aiguilles of Chamonix, and the Mont Blanc summit, North of Nimes, Moulin Rouge cabaret, Louvre, Les Alsaces, Strasbourg, St Remy, Provence, Canyon of Verdon River, Versailles and many more beautiful places.
